For Parents

First of all, welcome to Wolfhome! We're glad you're here.

The staff and volunteers at Wolfhome understand the importance of keeping kids safe both online and everywhere else. On this page we try to explain how our site, Wolfhome, works, and how your child might use our site. It turns out though that one of the *best* ways to learn about Wolfhome is to create your own account here and explore it for yourself! You never know, you might even end up having as good a time on here as your kids do!

A Quick Explanation

Wolfhome is a part of the Chatwitch™ network of "2D Avatar Chat" sites and it is owned and operated by Wunderwood LLC. The very first chat site in this network was Wolfhome.com. That site officially launched on October 31st, 1999. Since then, we have started adding more sites to what is now a growing online community. We have found that other people enjoy the experience of "becoming" a wolf, a domestic or wild feline, perhaps a wizard or some other type of real or imaginary character. We're pretty sure you will too.

If you give your permission for your child to have a Wolfhome account, your child will have the opportunity to participate in the online chat and to join the Wolfhome forums. This means that other site members that he or she does not know may want to communicate with your child. For this reason, we encourage you to talk to your child about safe online practices.

What is Wolfhome?

Wolfhome is a free online site for "kids of all ages". This means that there isn't an *enforced* age limit. In general we tend to see visitors that are pre-teen to young adult. Some of the administrators on Wolfhome, for instance, started on the site as kids when they were 10 or 11 years old. Kids whose parents give us their permission can become members on our site where they can customize an "avatar" (an online character). Most of the entertainment value on Wolfhome comes from "just hanging out" and chatting with friends or exploring the site. There is an online currency on all Chatwitch sites called "deltas" (more on that below).

Players on Wolfhome communicate with each other online via speech bubbles. Players may move from location to location via the online map or by clicking on links that form connections between rooms. Subscribers may spend deltas in order to gain access to custom poses (additional avatars) or custom rooms of their own where they make the rules.

Sharing Information

Your child may choose to create a publicly viewable profile on Wolfhome. This profile can be seen by any member who knows your child's username. Your child may include information in their profile such as their gender, age, their likes or dislikes. Your child provides this information when they edit their profile and they may change it at any time. If you give consent for your child to participate on Wolfhome, and in the future you decide you want to change or delete the information your child has submitted to the site, please contact us by email at support@Wolfhome.com. Please include the child's username and your (parent's) email address in your email so we can better assist you with your inquiry or request. A Wolfhome administrator may ask additional questions or take other steps to verify the identity of parents/guardians before responding to a request to review or delete their children's information, or a request to refuse further collection from children.

As with any online activity, we encourage parents to stay involved and engaged with their children's behavior. We always do our best to remind all members to stay safe while visiting Wolfhome, but you can help too - not just on our site, but with your kids' online activities in general. Some good reminders for them are:

Never give out your personal information online. Personal information includes things like your real name, address, phone number, e-mail or school.

If you ever run into any trouble on Wolfhome, you can always tell us by clicking the 'Problem' link located in the chat and on the wolfhome.com map. One of our trained moderators will review your message promptly and take action if necessary.

If someone says or does something elsewhere on the internet that makes you feel uncomfortable, or if they ask for your personal information, tell your parents right away.

Never give out your password to anybody, even if they say they work for Wolfhome - they don't! We will never ask you for your password except on the login page, and there is no reason anyone else would want it other than to cause problems. So keep your password secret!
